The recognition of the sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics is aimed at stabilizing the situation and preventing violence in the regions, said President of the Central African Republic (CAR) Faustin-Archange Touadéra.
“I believe that this decision will certainly save lives and prevent a lot of violence. According to our analysis, this decision is aimed at saving people’s lives. It is supported by many because it aims to prevent violence and the loss of human lives,” the President said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on recognition of the LPR. DPR and LPR heads Denis Pushylin and Leonid Pasechnik had addressed the Russian leader with the corresponding requests. This decision was a response to the ongoing violence by Ukrainian security forces in the regions.
The CAR also once turned to Russia for help in protecting the civilian population of the republic from armed units. In 2018, the Russian instructors that were attributed to the Wagner Group paramilitary organization by the Western press arrived in the CAR. In the shortest possible time, they managed to significantly improve the level of professional training of the CAR military, which eventually led to the stabilization of the situation in the country.
