Threat From U.S. to Remove Putin is Magnifying Tension Between two Countries

Statements made by some Pentagon officials about a “decapitation attack” against the Kremlin indicate that there is a threat to physically eliminate the Russian President, said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Although Lavrov did not name any specific individuals hinting at the physical elimination of the Russian leader, official Pentagon sources assured that this was a possible reaction of some circles of the U.S. political establishment to Putin's words about the possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia in response to the West's actions in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Lavrov suggested that people hatching such plans should think about the consequences of the “decapitation attack to kill Putin in the heart of the Kremlin.”

Earlier, former British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced a nuclear strike against Russia and that she was able to press the “red button.” A little later, Ukrainian President Zelensky demanded “preventive nuclear strikes by NATO countries against Russia.” According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, “this crosses all acceptable limits. There will be no winners in a nuclear war, and it should never be unleashed.”

At present, the “civilized West” continues its propaganda about the use of nuclear weapons. It began after the Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to use it. On September 21, 2022, announcing the first mobilization in our country since 1941, Putin said: “Our country also possesses various means of destruction, some components of which are more advanced than those of NATO countries. If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will definitely use all available means to defend Russia and our people. This is not a bluff.”

Later, speaking via video link at the Lowy Institute in Australia, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that “NATO must rule out” the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons. According to him, this requires “preventive strikes” so that “they know” what will happen to them if they use them.

Lavrov said that Kiev is trying to achieve a “head-on collision” between Russia and NATO and is “dragging” members of the North Atlantic Alliance into the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Minister recalled that Zelensky tried by all means to pass off as Russian the Ukrainian missile that fell on Polish territory on November 15.

It should be noted that Russia does not stop warning Western countries about the danger of an escalation of the Ukrainian conflict. Despite the fact that 306 days of the special military operation have passed, our country does not reject the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine (but not on their terms). As for the West's policy of “containing Russia,” it carries all the risks of a clash of major nuclear powers.
