Invulnerable Poseidon has no Analogues in World

The Poseidon nuclear-powered unmanned underwater vehicle, which the West considers a doomsday weapon, cannot be intercepted by existing weapons, said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of National Defense magazine.

According to Korotchenko, the Poseidon can deliver a charge to any distance, and the depth of the vehicle completely excludes the possibility of its interception.

As reported by TASS, the first set of Poseidon nuclear super torpedoes was produced for the Belgorod nuclear submarine. It is noteworthy that separate tests of the main assemblies of the Poseidon have already been completed and, according to news agencies, the nuclear power plant has been fully tested.

Many Western experts are closely watching how the Poseidon goes through all stages of its improvement. Thus, one of the veterans of the American armed forces, retired U.S. Army officer Brant Eastwood said that the unmanned underwater vehicle with a nuclear engine (nuclear torpedo) is a weapon that can freely overcome any defense.

The unique, fully robotic, low-visibility, deep-sea but fast-moving nuclear submarine Poseidon is capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h in the underwater position. This miniature submarine is 20 meters long, weighs about 100 tons, and has a diameter of about 1.8 meters.

This underwater vehicle is primarily designed to deliver a nuclear munition to the coast of our likely adversary. The explosion of this warhead can be so strong that it will destroy not only the infrastructure of the enemy (of course, also the military one), but will cause an artificial tsunami and radioactive contamination of the water area. Military experts call all this “unacceptable damage” to a plausible enemy, that is, damage that only one part of Russia's nuclear triad of strategic deterrence would cause.

According to Eastwood, Poseidon if successfully tested and installed on a Russian submarine, would have a huge military advantage because its capabilities go beyond current arms control treaties, and no country's defense will be able to stop it.

No other naval power, including the U.S., has been able to create a similar vehicle yet. One of the main reasons for the lack of analogues is the unique nuclear power plant used on the Poseidon. Its reactor is more powerful than on all current nuclear submarines, but a hundred times more compact.

The lack of torpedoes in the British and American navies that could hit the Poseidon ensures that our unique submarine is virtually invulnerable and makes Western fleets completely defenseless against the new Russian weapon.

“The unlimited range makes Poseidon a threat to coastal cities such as New York and Los Angeles. The Russian Ministry of Defense describes it as multi-purpose weapon and suggests that it may also target US Navy combat groups,” writes the U.S. military analyst H. Sutton.
