Beginning of Power Transfer: Expert Comments on Gossip About Putin's Successor

Discussion of the politician with the host of the show began to move smoothly over to gossip about the successor: why was it necessary? Nikita Isayev claimed that, in his opinion, the talk about the successor marked the beginning of power transition.

The rumors and assumptions about the transit of power in Russia and the successor to Russian President Vladimir Putin have quite clear goals: the authorities are trying to gauge public sentiment, as well as to drive a certain message home to people. This opinion was expressed by businessman and politician Nikita Isayev on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station. Kiselyov Doesn’t Talk About Serious Matters Without Consent The conversation between Isayev and the host of the program began with a discussion of TV anchorman Dmitry Kiselyov's speech at a meeting with students of Moscow State University. Kiselyov spoke on the subject of Vladimir Putin's successor and said the president was “thinking about it every day.” Isayev said, in turn, the “propaganda mouthpiece” could not have delivered that speech without consent from the political elite. “I cannot believe that Dmitry Kiselyov has spoken out on the topic of the successor in this tonality without consent of the people who influence Russia’s political structure. Kiselyov is the mouthpiece of propaganda, and he is quite professional. He is allowed do a lot of things: to give an interview to [blogger] Yuri Dud on his YouTube channel and to answer rather tough questions. Also he was allowed to speak about arms supplies to Azerbaijan during a trip to Armenia and to state that this was perfectly normal. Kiselyov is a truly competent person who is able to take a punch. At the same time, he would not have been able to make an emphatic statement about Putin, who was allegedly thinking about the successor every single day. I believe this is an information attack of some kind in order to probe into the public mood,” Isayev said. People Have To Get Used To It The discussion between the politician and the radio show host began to move smoothly over to the gossip about the successor: why was it necessary? Isayev claimed that, in his opinion, the talk about the successor marked the beginning of power transition. “I would like to illustrate this point by citing work with public opinion. For example, many people remember how a positive image of an intelligence officer was embedded in their minds through movies. We were told how much we liked that smart and wise man. I don't think we need to explain the details and goals. What is happening now is exactly the same: people have to get used to the fact that the concept of a successor is tangible. We are told that the transfer of power will be based on this principle of succession. Vladimir Putin will eventually show us the person and say: “This man is worthy of continuing my work, you trust me, and I propose him,” the expert said on the radio show.
