Breakthrough in Popasna Destroys Entire Defense of AFU – Russian Troops are Entering Rubizhne

The failures of Ukrainian army units in Popasna [a town in the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine] have changed the strategic situation on the front. Allied Russian forces fully occupied the town of Rubizhne, which had been abandoned by the enemy.

Despite the echeloned defense line in Popasna, the offensive in the city limits and at the outskirts of the settlement continues.

The enemy's defensive line in the southern part of the settlement was recently broken through. Combined forces of the Donbass defenders are engaged in liberating the settlement, among which, according to media reports, are the Wagner Group storm troops, which have extensive experience in fighting in urban areas.

Successes in this section of the frontline have forced the Ukrainian command to regroup its forces in other cities under its control.

Popasna is a key population center for the AFU defense. The liberation of this town will allow the allies to advance toward Bakhmut, a regional transportation center.

In this case, the surviving Ukrainian units deployed in the area of the Severodonetsk-Lysychansk agglomeration will find themselves in a tactical trap.
