Today, a 20-ton branded truck of the ZooFriend All-Russian campaign, which is carrying food and veterinary medicines to help animal volunteers, animal shelters and equestrian clubs, was sent to the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) from the Victory Museum in Moscow, where the final meeting of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation is held.
“We deliberately timed the dispatch of the eighth ZooFriend’s truck to the CC final meeting, to give the opportunity to feel involvement in our common good cause to as many people as possible, because its theme is “National Unity: Sovereignty, Creation and Justice” and representatives of the Civic Chambers of the DPR and LPR take part in it,” said Elena Sharoykina, chairwoman of the Commission on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the initiator of the ZooFriend campaign.
The ZooFriend delivery truck has brought 8 tons of oats, 5.5 tons of wheat groats, 2 tons of barley, 4.5 tons of food for dogs and cats, veterinary medicines and anti-flea and tick collars.
Professor, scientist-zoologist and TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov, as well as members of the organizing committee of the ZooFriend campaign, in particular, the chairmen of the Civic Chambers of the DPR and LPR Alexander Kofman and Alexey Karyakin took part in sending the truck.
ZooFriend is the all-Russian campaign to help zoos and shelters in Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, launched by the initiative of the Commission on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on March 31, 2022.
Within its framework, money, feed and veterinary medicines, as well as building materials are collected, animals left without owners are exported to Russia, and help is sent to zoos, animal shelters, equestrian clubs and shelters in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
Recall that the first truck was sent by Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation in Moscow on April 19, 2022. During the six months only eight trucks were sent, the aid, with a total weight of more than 150 tons was delivered to the DPR, LPR, Kherson, Melitopol and Mariupol. The total amount of funds raised and spent on the ZooFriend campaign is more than 15 million rubles ($244,950).
The organizing committee of ZooFriend unites about 20 organizations, the leading Russian foundations and projects, which render assistance both to wild and domesticated pets.
