The Federation Council has prematurely dismissed Alexei Kudrin, the chairman of the Russian Accounts Chamber, who the day before announced his resignation from his post, which he had held since May 22, 2018.
For many years, Kudrin was a prominent figure in the Russian establishment. It is difficult to overestimate his role as Russia's finance minister, which he was from May 18, 2000, to September 26, 2011.
According to the press secretary for Russian President Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin and Alexei Kudrin are not scheduled to meet in the near future, but he will intersect the government in one way or another due to his new job.
“They have indeed worked side by side for decades,” Peskov told the media, “but there is hardly room for an emotional reaction in such situations. Kudrin himself, as you know, said in his statement that he wants to focus on big projects that involve a large number of people.”
Although Kudrin said during today's session of the Federation Council that he had not yet chosen a position which he would take after leaving his post as head of the Accounts Chamber, many media outlets have been spreading information for days that the former head of the Audit Chamber may go to work at Yandex.
However, Kudrin himself indirectly made it clear in his Telegram channel what kind of activities he intends to pursue. “All in all, I spent about 25 years in the public sector. Now I would like to focus on big projects, which are related to the development of private initiatives in a broad sense, but which have a significant effect on people,” he said.
According to Wikipedia, Yandex is the Russian multinational technology company providing Internet-related products and services, including an Internet search engine, information services, e-commerce, transportation, maps and navigation, mobile applications, and online advertising. It primarily serves audiences in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the former Soviet Union, and has more than 30 offices worldwide.”
During his farewell address to the Federation Council, Kudrin thanked deputies and senators “for their fruitful joint work” to improve public administration.
“Mr.Kudrin, we hope that after your transition the Federation Council will be more commonly cited in Yandex with the important statements we make,” said the chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko during this memorable session of the upper house of parliament.
