Military Historian Evgeny Ponasenkov Predicts Important Political Events in Russia

Russia is heading for drastic changes on the political scene in the near future. This was stated by Evgeny Ponasenkov, a military historian and publicist in a conversation with Piter Live news outlet.

He said he predicted last year that important events would happen in 2020. However, the coronavirus infection has intervened slightly adjusting the government’s plans.

“If we all are not engaged in politics and if people are not interested in it, politics is interested in us,” said Ponasenkov. “Last year, I predicted that political repression would begin in 2020. Indeed, at the beginning of the year, we came to face with the start of a coup d’etat, but then COVID-19 intervened and temporarily suspended it. One way or another, it is going to happen – this summer or next year.

“Important political events might happen in Russia. As I said, political repressions have already begun. To my thinking, they are likely to be restarted after voting on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The Chinese virus has corrected these plans, but they will certainly materialize.”
