“Vladimir Putin’s status is already somewhat of Lukashenko's,” says Shenderovich. “However, since there is nothing to be done even with Lukashenko and it is impossible to dislodge him, so what can be said about Putin?"

Apparently, Vladimir Putin is gradually becoming a second Alexander Lukashenko. However, the main problem is that the Russian President has no plans to leave presidency, and it is impossible to apply international algorithms to this.

This statement was made by Viktor Shenderovich, a Russian poet and journalist, on the air of the Echo of Moscow radio station.

To his thinking, due to the Russian national mentality, the same rules that work, for instance, in the United States are unlikely to work in Russia. Waiting is the only way out of the situation, says Shenderovich.

“Vladimir Putin’s status is already somewhat akin to Lukashenko's,” says Shenderovich. “However, since Lukashenko there is nothing to be done even with and it is impossible to dislodge him, so what can be said about Putin? International mechanisms do not work here.

“So, we have to wait as unfortunately, our mentality does not allow us to use our brains and social tools to change the government the way the U.S. did."

On the other hand, the other half of the Russian expert community assumes the contrary. For example, the well-known political scientist Valery Solovey has recently made a statement saying that "Vladimir Putin might leave the presidential office as early as in 2021.”
