In Mikhail Khazin’s opinion, the situation in Russia is aggravated by the fact that, in recent years, the global capitalist system has collapsed. He believes that, under these conditions, no world leader will be able to offer the world any alternative options for the future. However, Putin might have an alternative of this kind.

Chances are the Russian President will officially announce the country's transition to an entirely new model of development. Mikhail Khazin, a well-known Russian economist, social activist and publicist, believes that Vladimir Putin might make this significant statement in the near future. "Putin is getting ready to make an important statement at the beginning of the year," he said on air of the Aurora radio station.

According to Khazin, the current situation in Russia shows that there is simply no other option but to return to the socialist or conservative model of state management. Moreover, he believes that Vladimir Putin understands this better than anyone else and back in the spring of 2020 he began to make the first steps to announce the transition to a new model in the near future.

As for the current approach, which Khazin describes as the liberal one, it has finally driven Russia into an impasse. In his opinion, the fact that there is no real economic growth in Russia at all offers key evidence to this. Moreover, the economy stopped developing in the country back in 2012, says Khazin. Therefore, personally, Putin needs to make changes as he understands their importance more than anyone else.

According to Khazin, the situation in Russia is exacerbated by the fact that at this moment, it is obvious that the global capitalist system is falling into pieces. Therefore, to his thinking, at this background, no world leader will be able to offer the world alternative options for the future. However, in Khazin’s opinion, Putin has an option of this kind. Chances are that very soon he will offer the world a fundamentally new socialist model.

Khazin believes that the Russian President is preparing a statement to be made at the beginning of the year where he will say Russia is abandoning the liberalist path of development.
